Larry Wilkerson is a huge golf fan. His love of the game is evident in everything he does regarding golf. He also helped to make the 2008 OFMGA Club Championship an even better event than it has been in the past. Mr. Wilkerson was the official starter of this years Club Championship and called out each players name and their hometown before they began play. This gave the event a special flair and provided even more personalization for the participants. He also manned the scoring tent which again added to the feel of the event. We want to thank Larry for all of his work in this years event. I know I can speak for all of you in hoping that he makes this a yearly ritual. Great job Mr. Wilkerson!!!!
Kenny Wilson wanted to show everyone that he is still the man to beat at Old Fort. He did that and then some with a great 2008 Club Championship performance. Kenny fired rounds of 68 and 73 to win his fourth championship by 4 strokes over former champion Sal Aversa. The Old Fort Black course was set up very difficult and the quality field responded with some great golf. Scott Wieland finished 3rd and was the only other player to shoot in the 140's for the event. Defending champion Zach Johnson finished 4th in his 1st title defense. 5th place went to Mendel Loyd with a 152. Gary Slayden and Kevin Carter rounded out the top 7 finishing 6th and 7th respectively. Click HERE for complete Club Championship Gross Score Results.

McCauley Defends Senior Club Championship
Bill McCauley defended his OFMGA Senior Club Championship and solidified his place in association history. He is the first two time winner of the Senior Championship. Rounds of 72 and 76 were good enough to hold off Louis Carson and Jeff Phillips for the title. Bill was also on the successful OFMGA Champions Cup team which competes from the Black tees. Needless to say, Mr. McCauley can still golf his ball.

Jay Baucom Wins Presidents Flight
The Presidents Flight seems to always produce alot of competition and drama. 2008 was no exception as only a few strokes separated the field. Jay Baucom opened the event with a score of 73 that would normally put him firmly in the drivers seat. John Kazo had something to offer as well as he too fired a one over par 73. The defending flight champion Jim Bjork continued his always steady play and ended up in sight of the lead with rounds of 77 and 78. The flight results were as follows:

Jason Bohannon Takes Home Senators Flight Honors
Jason Bohannon won the OFMGA Player of the Year award in 2006. He won that award with a clutch performance in the last event of the OFMGA season. However winning an individual event after leading the first round is an entirely different kind of pressure. Bohannon opened the tournament with a sizzling 77 and took a slim one stroke lead into the second round of play. He backed it up with solid score of 80 to capture the Senators Flight Championship in 2008. Tim Maynard finished 2nd with two solid rounds as well. Bob Hayes and Billy Douglas finished tied for 1st in the Net Division.

Practice Makes Perfect For Governors Flight Winner Steve Marshall
Steve Marshall contemplated not even playing in this years Club Championship. His game had been kind of up and down and he didn't feel that comfortable going into the tournament. Not only did he play, he won. Steve practices the game as hard as anyone and it is now starting to pay off. Marshall fired rounds of 86 and 81 to take home the Governors Flight Championship. Steve fought off the charge from Greg Callaway and Keith Peevy to take his first individual title. Callaway ended up winning the Net division with Don Roney finishing 2nd. Peevy finished 2nd in the Gross Division.
